Carmichael SDA Church Bulletin
This week we're going to witness a very painful experience that Peter endured as he plummeted from being a rock in God's cathedral to being a stumbling block in the hands of Satan. And he managed this loss in a matter of a few minutes. I can only imagine the pained and confused expression on his face as Christ issued this rebuke. What caused this lapse? I believe Peter's fault was that he thought he understood God. He had his picture...his box...that God fit into and he was so very wrong. Through the years of my ministry I have encountered so many that have God and last day events all figured out and they want to explain to everyone just what they should expect and how they should prepare. Peter should have just stopped at the statement that Jesus was the Messiah, the Son of the Living God. That's where we need to stop as well. Let's just renew our minds in surrender to Him throughout each day and let God be God. The good news...the great news...is that Jesus did not stop loving, guiding, and using Peter because of his lack of understanding. In fact, He uses our journey of growth in understanding.
